Iceman

The Iceman was finally here but there was no ice. I had an early start this year. Other years I went out in one of the last waves. But this year we went out in wave 1. The Iceman is trying to get more young kids into racing and showcased us by letting us start the race.
It was awsome being there up front at the start. After the singing of the National Anthem a Coast Guard helecopter did a low fast fly by. When I say low I mean the top of the tree tops and then we were off.
At the start the temp was in the upper 40's and sunny. As the race went on it started getting warmer and knew I was over dressed. I managed it pitch my gloves and that cooled me down enough. I learned from other years that you don't want to led from start to finish. I let 2 other girls led and I drafted off them. After about 8 miles I realized that they were going slower than I wanted. I knew that if I just passed them and took off they might just draft off me. So I waited and when a pack of guy's passed us I got on the outside of them and hide when we passed them. After I broke away I didn't see them again and just rode as fast as I could to get my first win in the Iceman.
Being on the podium that night was sweet. Thanks to Michigan Youth Cycling I recived a nice scholarship, prizes and cash.

Bob Myers and I.
My friend Lee Ann took a bad fall at the start of the Pro Women race. She went down hard on the road and still finished the race being scrapped up and bloody from head to toe. GOOD JOB LEE ANN.
At the end of the day I was pretty tired.

Mohican Wilderness

I haven't had to much spare time for updates lately. I have had a lot of school work and now it is basketball try outs. Today we didn't have school so I have a little spare time.
Mohican Wilderness is one of the hardest races in the OMBC series. It is a place you either love or hate. Today I loved it and was having fun. Maybe it was because it was the last OMBC race of the year or I was having a good race.  I was battling back and forth with my friend Colleen Skinner. I had a good second place finish and it felt good.
Congratulations to Colleen on winning the Sport Womens Series.
Well just one more race to go, The Iceman this weekend. I will try to get an update up a little faster.

Homecoming

School has been keeping my busy and have not had a lot of time for updates. After all school does come first. The week before the race at Mohican State Park was Homecoming week at school. Every night was something different. First I played in a powder puff football game, in the rain. The next night the school had a bon fire pep rally. Then on Friday night was the football game that N.R. won, in the rain. Saturday was the Homecoming dance. I danced all night long. And after all my friends and I went out for a late dinner. Sunday morning I was just to tired to race and slept in till noon.

Westbranch

Westbranch has been a race that has been good to me. But the day before there was a lot of rain. On the first lap the course had some slick spots. I had a couple of good crashes on them and now have a good bruise on my knee. Well every now and then you just have a race like that.
Thanks Michelle, Lee Ann, Lauren, Kelly and Chris and Colleen Skinner.

Dillon State Park

Since I have been back at school I haven't had much time to update this blog.  Riding as much as I can and a lot of school work. I did get to use my new kit at Dillon state park.
The field was kind of small do to another race. But we still had close race.

Kenda Cup East Final / Windham, NY

Well it was kind of a last minute decision, but we decided to go to Windham NY for the Kenda Cup East final. My dad couldn't get off work on Thursday so we had to drive up when he got home. He was getting a watch at a meeting for working at Central Cadillac for 25 years. So we drove into the night and got a hotel and drove another 2 hours in the morning to get there.
We got to the race at 8:00 and my race didn't start till 2:00. So we walked part of the course and watched the Cat 3 race. It was hot in the 90's so we found a cool place to hang out. I got a chance to see my friends Catharine Pendrel and Lindsey Bishop again. I also meet John from the Gary Fisher crew. It was a short course and the same one that they are going to use in the World Cup race next year. I had to do 3 laps and it was a mass start.

Each lap you went thru the expo area twice and the guy's in the Gary Fisher trailer would cheer for me. Most of the race was in the sun making the climbs hard. I had a good crash on one of the downhill sections and got a little beat up.
I wound up finishing 1st in my age group and 3rd overall out of 6
With that win I became the Kenda Cup East Cat 2 Womens champ.

A LONG OVERDUE UPDATE

    ALUM CREEK
I either do really good or really bad here! Well, this year was bad! I was feeling good and I had a good start. Then I totally bonked eary in the race. I did a young Lance move. I went out to hard to soon. After the race I was really bummed out. I talked with Travis Saeler and he picked up my spirits and got me thinking in a new way. Thanks Travis!

   LAKE HOPE
The week before this race I trained harder than ever. There was a large field of 10 women in the sport class. I got another great start and felt great. I was riding along in 4th when I had a mechanical. My chain came off and was stuck in the spokes. By the time I got it fixed I was in 8th place. So I pushed really hard and finished 5th. Not that far out of 1st.

   MT. SNOW
I was really excited to go to Mt. Snow. Since it was a Kenda Cup Pro XCT race I was going to see my friends, Lindsey Bishop, Catharine Pendrel and Georgia Gould.

My race was a mass start for all CAT 2 racers. We had to do 3 laps. I felt real good the whole race.  There was a lot of big climbs and I made 100% of them. Last year I could not make the climbs.

I took 1st place in my age and 3rd overall. I felt really good.
   Lindsey Bishop and me.
Congratulations to Catharine Pendrel on her win!

I had wanted to do the mountain cross race but the qualifing was during my XC race. But I did get to ride to course. It was the first time I rode a MX course. My Mullet and I loved it!

Vacation

Well I have been on vacation and had to miss 1 of my favorite races. The OMBC race at S&S Trail. We were staying in New Jersey. And it was close to Orange County Choppers so we got a chance to go over there.
They had a motorcycle there that was for this guy who is doing a little race in France. Go Lance !
This vacation was awsome! I got to visit a lot of history.
That was special because my great grandmother came thru Ellis Island.
Later that day I got to take my first SUBWAY ride and we went to New York city. We were in Times Square at night, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I think I could live there it was like a party in the streets on a Monday night! Yes we did look like tourists!
On another day we went to Philly and visited the most historic square mile in the U.S.. It was awsome to go in Independance Hall, visit Betsey Rosses house and see the Liberty Bell.
The week went by fast and we saw a lot!  I was kind of glad to be back home, it was very tiring. But now it's time to get back to racing.
